All help spreading the word these final days are appreciated. You may read all about the event and the exhibitors, contests and partners in this article, below are some practical info ahead of Saturday:
– The venue is an event space on 5 Jiak Kim Street, in a building complex hosting a restaurant and serviced apartments lobby. The event space is in a street level building, with high ceilings and nice and spacious atmosphere. You enter directly into the exhibition area, in the back of this is an open lounge space which we will reorganise to the large stage area in the afternoon for the shine final. Further in the back there’s two rooms connected to each other, one host the small stage area, the other the workshop area. There’s restrooms in a corridor in one side of the space.
– In the lounge area Old Moon Spirits will serve free Japanese Shochu and Awamori, both on the rocks and in cocktails, and That One Coffee will sell coffee, tea and some small coffee snacks.
– At 11.00am we open the doors to the public, and it’s open all day until 6.30pm. Since it’s the first time we do this, we’re not sure exactly how the venue will work out and how much people there will be. A times it may (hopefully) be a bit crowded around some exhibitors tables. If this is the case, have patience, respect each others and it should work out just fine. Also the small stage area might be crowded for some sessions, we hope it will be okay.

We’ll also have several clothing and accessories companies present, so it’s not just all shoes.
– Close by each exhibitors table there will be chairs and mirrors. All exhibitors will have lots of samples on display. If you try on Ready to Wear models, please only wear them gently, don’t walk away with them in the venue. All exhibitors will take orders during the day, some will sell smaller products on site, like shoe care products or accessories. In many cases there’s exclusive offers during the day, keep your eyes open for a good deal. Please remember that you visitors have a big part in making it worthwhile for the brands to come to the event, by purchasing their products.
– The Saphir Shoe Shine Masterclasses with Ash Samsudin of Metiers Sol has three separate sessions, which is a unique possibility to learn from one of the best shoe shiners in the world, get feedback and try on things with his directions. Here you are to bring your own pair of shoes (it can be those you wear on the day), in black or medium brown (or thereabout), while Saphir provide shoe care product. They go on for 45 minutes, in-between stage happenings. Session 1 at 1.15-2.00pm, session 2 at 2.15-3pm, and session 3 at 4.15-5.00pm. There’s still spots left to register for, although some are starting to get full. More info and registration here. If spots are available, drop-in during the day can be possible, but of course best is to register to secure a spot.
– At 3pm it’s time for the the Asian Championships of Shoe Shining, this at the large stage area, which we will convert the lounge area into in the afternoon. Finalists this time are Niko Cho from Singapore, Tyler Tran, Vietnam and Naoki Hayashida from Japan. they will shine a new Bridlen shoe with Saphir products in just 20 minutes, and battle it out for fine prices and the title. There will be bar tables for the polishing contestants, with some seating for the audience but many will need to stand up. It may be crowdy, but people will get a good view of the impressive work by the contestants.

The shine contest is a highlight you don’t want to miss. Will also be live streamed here on Shoegazing.com.
– The top three shoes from the World Championships of Shoemaking, plus the patina world champs winner, will be on display. Please handle them carefully if you lift them up, but don’t miss to admire the work in full.
– We will be live streaming from the shine contest at 3pm (Singapore time). It will be here on Shoegazing.com and on Shoegazing’s Youtube channel. We hope we’ll manage without technical difficulties. There will also be lots of films coming out later by Kirby Allison, and likely from a bunch of others visiting as well.
– In social media we as usual have the hashtag #supertrunk for the events, please use it when you post content in social media. It’s a great way to follow what happens and see lots of nice shoes, for those of you who can’t visit the event.
